Use Thor Helical remedial wall ties for wall tie replacement in brick and masonry cavity walls. These stainless steel replacement helical wall ties are impact driven to provide a self-tapping twist-fix interlock anchorage. Alternatively the helix can be chemically grouted to provide highly effective cavity wall tie replacement system having a resin bonded retrofit connection.

The 'AirTwist' helical wall tie is simply hammered into into masonry walls using the impact action of a roto hammer drill to deliver a mechanical connection.  AirTwist remedial wall ties are typically driven into pre drilled pilot holes to tie brick masonry or concrete, the holes being formed with a llightweight dril to be about a third smaller in diameter than that of the cavity wall ties

Helical screw ties are the only type of remedial tie  suitable for use in any cavity wall situation irrespective of substrate strength or fire rating (B.R.E. Digest 329).

When used with resins or grouts the interlocking peak and trough formation of the helix enhances the bond strength of the masonry wall ties along their full embedment length.

A combination of the two fastening techniques can be used where required to deliver a mechanical fixing at one end of the remedial tie and a bonded anchorage at the other.

NOTE:    BRE Digest 329 -Installing Wall Ties in Existing Construction (2000) - records that the 'cavity burst through' caused by drilling 8-12mm holes in brick with an SDS hammer drill knocks off up to 100 times the weight of material that is knocked off using a lightweight rotary-percussion (3-jaw chuck) tool.
