| Thor Helical Fixings |
|
Thor Helical wall ties, batten fixings, nails and piles form a comprehensive range of engineered self-tapping helical fixings, which are driven into a construction substrate with a series of hammer impacts.
When subjected to axial load the fastener becomes positively stressed within the substrate as the axial forces induce a torsional resultant into the anchors uniformly twisted cross-section. This build up of torsional stress provides a degree of eleastic yield to enable the helical anchor to progressively accumulate load capacity beyond normal limits, enhancing the anchors load-sharing ability and avoiding catastrophic or sudden failures. With patented ‘precise pitch’ engineering; each Thor Helical fastener is proportionately balanced in section, stiffness and pitch of helix to optimise driving speed, improve reliability and enhance performance.

The spiral fastenings have large work hardened helical blades with sufficient twist angle to windingly deflect and rotate the fixing upon driven impact. The blade edges cut a precise helical path into a wide range of building materials whereby the peaks and troughs of the helix interact with the host material to create a continuous and reliable physical interlock anchorage that is free from expansive splitting stress and point loadings.
